What Can a Meal Change?
A knock at the door. A nutritious meal on the table. A few minutes of conversation on an otherwise quiet afternoon. For thousands of households across Durham over the past 50+ year, our meals have changed more than you'd think. This fall, see the difference one meal makes — and help us deliver more of them.
Miles of Gratitude
A Nov. 17–Dec. 1 giving challenge, with every gift given in someone's honor.
Nine answers to one question.
A meal is never just a meal. Here's what shows up on the plate along with it.
Health
A body gets the fuel it needs to keep going.
Staying Home
A senior gets to stay right where their life already is.
Safety
A knock at the door means someone was checked on today.
Connection
A quiet afternoon gets a few minutes of company.
Dignity
A hot plate, handed over with respect, not pity.
Recovery
One less thing to manage while the body heals.
Financial Stability
A grocery bill that no longer competes with medicine.
Caring for a Companion
A pet gets fed too, so no one has to choose.
Being Remembered
A name someone still calls out at the door.
Be Part of the Change
This season, there are more ways than one to help change what a meal can mean for an older adult in Durham. Join us at an event, make a gift, or volunteer your time.
Fall Fundraising Dinner
The Rickhouse Durham | 6–9 PM
This special evening will bring together local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, donors, partners, and community members for a night of dinner, connection, and behind-the-scenes impact. Your ticket is your donation.
Miles of Gratitude Giving Challenge
Turn your gratitude into meals and holiday gifts for our neighbors. Make a donation in honor or memory of someone who has made a difference in your life, and we'll send them or their loved one a card letting them know a gift was made in their name.
