Office Closures & Meal Delivery Schedule Updates
Office Closed - Monday, February 2 & Tuesday, February 3
Due to forecasted inclement weather, freezing temperatures, and the potential for unsafe road conditions early next week, the Meals on Wheels Durham office will be closed on Monday, February 2 and Tuesday, February 3. Staff will work remotely on Monday and Tuesday.
Meal Delivery Update
To make sure our clients are still cared for during the closure, we’re adjusting our delivery schedule as follows:
Hot Meal Clients
- Will receive two additional frozen meals this week
- Delivered on Friday, Jan. 30
Frozen Meal Clients
- Meal boxes delivered on Wednesday, Jan. 28 will include enough lunches to cover the remainder of the week, as well as Monday and Tuesday.
Midweek Updates
- Hot meal deliveries resume on Wednesday, February 4 even if operating on a delay
- Any remaining frozen meals will be delivered Wednesday, as conditions allow
- Wednesday is expected to follow Monday’s lettered-route group
Return to Normal Operations
If all meals are delivered as planned, we expect to resume normal service on Thursday, February 5.
Volunteer Needs
Wellness Calls - Monday, Feb. 2
In response to the winter weather and office closure, and if circumstances permit (barring any power outages), we are offering Wellness Calls on Monday, February 2 to check in on clients who may be impacted by the cold.
- Brief, friendly calls to say hello and check that clients are safe and doing okay
- Confirm that meals have been received
- Not emergency or problem-solving calls. No special training required
Drivers Needed - Wednesday, Feb. 4
Help us deliver meals and check-in on seniors after the winter weather office closure.
