Greetings everyone! My name is Assandra Baysah, and I am very excited to join the Meals on Wheels Durham team as a Spring 2020 Development and Communications Intern!
Though I am hailing from the Queen City of Charlotte, I consider Durham my second home. I am a third-year student at North Carolina Central University and currently studying Mass Communication and concentrating on public relations. On-campus I am involved in numerous organizations and serve as President of the University Honors Program and the AXtraordinary Alpha Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
In my free time, I work as a freelance graphic designer and photographer. I chose Meals on Wheels Durham because of the extraordinary work that the organization is doing in the Durham community, and I wanted to be a part of something much more significant than myself. It was vital for me to be able to work and grow in a team-oriented environment that promotes civic engagement. I’m also excited to serve in a role that will allow me to use my talents and expertise to further the mission of Meals on Wheels and assist in helping to feed the need here in Durham, North Carolina! I’m positive that my time and experience at Meals on Wheels Durham will prepare me for a career in the Public Relations field post-graduation.
