Welcome Blog: Rachel

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Sauls, and I am thrilled to be serving at Meals on Wheels Durham as a CTNC AmeriCorps member for the next nine months. I am serving at MOW Durham as the Client Services Associate.

I am a Tar Heel-born Durham native who just graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with my bachelor’s degree in May 2020. At Carolina, I majored in English and Comparative Literature with a focus in Science, Medicine, and Literature. I minored in Hispanic Studies and Jewish Studies. I’m headed to Yale Divinity School in fall 2021 to earn a Master of Divinity degree.

At UNC-Chapel Hill, I volunteered as an Admissions Ambassador, giving tours of campus to prospective students and their families. Currently, I volunteer with the Arthritis Foundation and work as an intern for the Resource Center for Women and Ministry in the South. I recently joined the Common Woman Chorus, and I look forward to singing with them again once it is safe to do so! In my free time, I enjoy running, watching Gilmore Girls with my sister, and attempting the daily The New York Times crossword puzzles.

I am excited to be serving at Meals on Wheels Durham as a CTNC AmeriCorps member because this work allows me to become a better neighbor within my Durham community. I love talking with MOW Durham clients over the phone and helping to solve problems, and I am learning tons about nonprofit operations and services along the way! I am grateful to CTNC AmeriCorps and MOW Durham for the opportunity to serve in a nonprofit setting and engage with an amazing team of staff, clients, volunteers, and community members.
