Message from Executive Director
Executive Director of Meals on Wheels
Gale Singer Adland
Since its beginning in 1975, Meals on Wheels of Durham has counted on contributions and faithful volunteers from the community to allow us to assist our clients. Our clients are the homebound in our community – those who are frail, elderly, convalescing, sick, or disabled, without the resources or ability to prepare meals on their own. Many are lonely. Along with a nourishing noon meal, our volunteer drivers deliver friendly smiles and compassion. For some of our clients, this is the only food they’ll eat and the only person they’ll see the entire day. Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life for home-bound seniors, and for many is a vital service making independent living possible. Meals on Wheels exists because many individuals have no one else to supply a daily nutritious meal.
Please sponsor a senior. For $1300, you feed a person for an entire year. $650 will feed someone for 6 months, $325 for 3 months, or $110 for a month. Please consider giving at any level possible so we can continue to overcome and withstand current economic conditions.
With your gift, you will be joining a community of people lending a hand when it is most needed. We promise to continue to serve those in the Durham community who need a home delivered meal, and will use your donation wisely. Please also consider becoming a volunteer driver and having your heart touched as well.
Best Wishes,
Gale
