President of Meals on Wheels
Anne Aitchison
Dear Friends of Meals on Wheels of Durham:
I am proud to be the Chair of the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of Durham. It is made up of volunteers with many skills that help govern the nonprofit corporation. We share one thing: commitment to the mission of the organization. We are always looking for additional Board members, and if you are interested you can call for an application that will be given to our Nominating Committee for consideration.
We want to feed as many residents of Durham County as need our services, efficiently and effectively. Over the course of this fiscal year (July-June) we are making improvements to our recently purchased headquarters building in east Durham. We have expanded service to clients through our Seven Day Initiative, which allows us to carry cold lunches on Fridays to those who will need them on Saturday and Sunday. We are also expanding our pool of volunteers, both drivers and in-office, so staff has assistance all through the work day.
We are pleased to introduce our new Executive Director, Gale Singer Adland, who began work with us in March of 2010. We are delighted to have her with us, bringing many excellent skills with her. One thing that attracted the Search team to Gale was the fact that she has been part of a team responsible for 25 years, for the Judea Reform Congregation's preparation and delivery of 150 turkey dinners on Christmas Day, when we are closed. We welcome her, and we welcome you--as a client, a volunteer driver, as a donor or simply as a visitor. Call us at 667-9424 with your questions and requests.
Yours sincerely,
Anne Aitchison |
